There are many activities that parent can do with their children to enrich mathematics in the home.  Below is a few suggested activities and one particular favorite as an example of a fun-filled life activity in mathematics.

Material          Activity

Money        -    Count by 1's, 5's, and 10's
                          Make groups of the same coins
                              and multiply or divide.
Toothpicks  -    Make geometric figures like squares,
                              triangles, hexagons, and rectangles.
                            Multiply or subtract side and make a new
                                shape.
Can Food      -    Compare the size and shape of the food.
                            Divide the cost by the ounces or number
                                  of servings.
Cereal/Candy  -    Estimae the number of pieces in a small
                                  package vs. a large package.
